The Savick Approach

When you choose to work with Savick you aren't just buying a set of walls; you are securing a high-performance, carbon-negative building envelope. We have taken the federal government's open-source designs and re-engineered them for the future of our climate.

We recommend engaging with our team 12-16 weeks prior to your desired delivery date.

The $250 reservation fee is applied to the prefab package cost, which is billed in installments as the project reaches predetermined milestones. 50% is due upon ordering, 40% is due prior to delivery, and 10% is due once the project passes its municipal framing inspection. Are you a repeat Savick customer? You may wish to submit a commercial credit application to improve your projects cashflow.

Our Scope of Work

Savick acts as your Above-Grade Structural Partner. We focus exclusively on the “shell” of the building to ensure maximum thermal performance and structural integrity. Our package includes:

  • Straw Construction Details: The structural and envelope details required to build this standardized plan with straw panels.

  • Above-Grade Engineering: We retain an independent professional structural engineer licensed to operate in the projects jurisdiction to design all above-grade components, tailored to your specific lot’s wind, snow, and seismic loads.

  • Precision Manufacturing: Off-site fabrication of our signature straw insulated panels, floor assemblies, and roof systems.

  • Professional Installation: Our specialized crew handles the on-site assembly of the structural envelope to ensure an airtight, high-performance fit.

  • Weather Protection: Installation of the primary weather-resistive barrier (WRB) to protect the straw core during the transition to your finishing trades.

  • Structural Components: Above-grade components including stairs, interior walls, dropped glulam ridge beams, fasteners, and connectors.

Add-Ons

Every project is different - even when working with a standardized plan. Ask your Savick Salesperson about the various add-ons that may improve the flow and success of the build.

  • Foundation Capping: Most standardized plans are designed with a slab-on-grade foundation. Alternatively, we (or other local crews) can frame the main story If a crawlspace or full basement foundation is the preferred approach. This is often completed several days or weeks in advance of the main prefab packaging arriving to site.

  • Window Packages: Savick works with a number of high performance window and door suppliers across Canada. These packages can be supplied and installed shortly after the prefabricated panels are erected to rapidly get your project to the “lock-up” stage.

  • Design Modifications: We can work with your architectural design team to adapt the panel packages to meet site specific considerations. Changes to the standard design, however, will often result in cost and timeline implications. Major changes in the buildings form may require Savick’s custom panel design workflow to be implemented.

Exclusions

To maintain our focus on high-performance manufacturing and rapid assembly, Savick does not provide the following services. These are typically handled by your local General Contractor or specialty trades:

  • Finishes: Interior drywall/plaster and exterior siding/cladding.

  • Systems: Plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or mechanical systems and associated design work.

  • Below-Grade: Foundation design, excavation, or concrete work.

Project Readiness: What We Need From You

To ensure a 3–7 day "lock-up" on-site, the following must be completed prior to our arrival:

  1. Foundation Complete: A cured, level foundation built to the specifications provided in the engineering phase.

  2. Site Access: A clear, compacted site capable of supporting heavy delivery trucks and crane equipment.

  3. Utility Locations: All underground services must be marked and overhead powerlines temporarily relocated to provide crane access.

Logistics & Delivery

We are proud to manufacture our panels right here in Leduc County, Alberta.

  • Greater Edmonton Area: Full delivery and transport of all package components are included in the listed price.

  • Regional Alberta & Beyond: For projects outside the Greater Edmonton Area, additional delivery surcharges apply based on mileage and specialized transport requirements. Savick serves all of Canada.
